Communications & Publications Intern

About the role

The Communications and Publications Intern supports IHRDA's communications, publications and digital engagement activities under the supervision of the Communications and Publications Manager. The role covers content creation, website and social media updates, publications management, documentation, stakeholder engagement and organizational visibility. It suits a recent graduate or early-career professional seeking hands-on experience in communications, publishing, digital media and knowledge management within a pan-African human rights organization.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and edit news articles, website content, newsletters, social media posts and other communication materials, and update the website and digital platforms
• Help manage social media accounts, stakeholder mailing lists and communications databases, and prepare email communications and promotional materials
• Contribute to basic multimedia content such as graphics, photos and short videos, and monitor online engagement metrics
• Edit, proofread and format publications, help produce reports, newsletters, manuals and brochures, and upload them to the website and digital repositories
• Maintain records of publications and support their distribution and promotion
• Organize and maintain electronic and physical communication files, and catalogue publications and reference materials
• Support webinars, virtual discussions, public events and awareness campaigns, and document meetings and workshops
• Provide administrative support, compile communication statistics, and support fundraising and visibility initiatives
