Chief Operations Officer - Organic Farming

About the role

This role manages all agricultural activities, with a focus on organic cultivation, nursery operations, compost production and strategic crop planning. It covers the post-harvest chain from harvesting and storage through packaging, quality assurance and distribution, and includes leading a workforce of young employees and female outgrowers. The position is based in Kerewan.

Key responsibilities

• Direct farm management, including organic farming, nursery maintenance, compost production and crop scheduling.
• Supervise the post-harvest process, from harvesting and storage to packaging, quality control and affordable logistics.
• Lead, recruit and train youth staff and women outgrowers, setting work schedules and enforcing safety standards.
• Manage operational budgets and procurement to optimise costs per kilogram.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare export documentation.
• Create and maintain SOPs and track KPIs.
• Act as liaison for partners such as GAIN, GCCI, GIEPA and the Ministry of Agriculture.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing diverse agricultural operations, especially organic production and nurseries.
• Ability to lead teams, including youth and outgrower groups, with a focus on training and safety.
• Experience developing SOPs and monitoring performance metrics.
• Established relationships or working knowledge of agricultural organisations and government ministries.
