Field Engineer Consultant for Community Reintegration (STRONG)

About the role

The Field Engineer Consultant will support the planning, implementation and monitoring of community‑based reintegration activities in The Gambia. Working under the Officer‑in‑Charge and Reintegration Officer, the role focuses on infrastructure, rehabilitation works and service improvements that are safe, inclusive and protection‑sensitive.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor infrastructural components of community‑based livelihood projects across the country.
• Conduct regular field visits to verify progress, identify challenges and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure all interventions align with IOM standards, government priorities and identified community needs.
• Coordinate with the Procurement and Logistics Unit and support the Reintegration Officer in project delivery.

Required profile

• University BA or MA in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in construction or engineering projects.
• Experience with international NGOs or UN agencies and in community‑based reintegration initiatives.
• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites and work in a multicultural, humanitarian environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office packages.
• Strong ability to use AutoCAD, ProgeCAD, ArcGIS and RCD 2000.
