About the role
The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Banjul is seeking an Associate Communications Officer to support the implementation of communications strategies that raise awareness, drive engagement and build support for UN priorities across the country.
Key responsibilities
- Gather insights from traditional, social and digital media monitoring to inform communications strategy and identify reputational risks.
- Develop and implement communications campaigns, press releases, web stories, infographics and other products that engage target audiences.
- Manage relationships with traditional and new media outlets, including media mapping and outreach.
- Create, moderate and optimise content for social media platforms and the UN website, monitoring analytics to adjust strategy.
- Support the preparation of speeches, talking points and briefings for the Resident Coordinator and other senior officials.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree (Master’s) in communications, journalism, international relations or a related field.
- Minimum two years of progressively responsible experience developing and implementing communications strategies, including digital platforms and media relations in Gambia.
- Experience within the UN system or another international organization is an advantage.
